As the Autumn chill fills the air, with Winter not too far away, the time has come to close up the organic garden, plant bulbs for the coming 2012 Spring season and bring the herbs on in. Had a great growing season this year, ending up with 35 lbs of fresh organic produce, with Tarragon, Marjoram, Oregano and Rosemary still giving and garlic/onions to welcome us in Spring.
And of course, everything was delicious, from the tomatoes and lettuce, to our peas, beans and peppers, potatoes and watermelon, it was all good. Grew the Jolokia chili, which is the world's 3rd hottest pepper. Yum. Those are drying nicely to be made into a powder. I believe in knowing where my food comes from and what's being added to it. And having an organic garden allows me to have control over what I'm consuming. These are the days I long to reside in a warmer year-round climate, to grow my own produce year round.

Manifesto Beginnings
Fierce: marked by unrestrained zeal or vehemence.. furiously active or determined
Food: something that nourishes, sustains, or supplies
Manifesto: a written statement declaring publicly the intentions, motives, or views of its issuer
To me, the importance of food goes well beyond it's necessity. Think of the holidays, first dates, many of the memories we have can be brought up from the scent of something delicious cooking. And I believe that good food can be had and made by anyone.
With a supply of the right herbs & spices, you'll be able to whip up a wide array of dishes that'll please any taste buds. Take it a step further by growing herbs to have them fresh year round, for a well balanced kitchen. In no time, you'll discover the wonders of cooking and the ease that comes with it.
All in all, I created this blog to share with others a passion for flavorful, healthy food that is worthwhile making, at times rather easy and always simple to make. An equal passion is for organic gardening. You take from the experience the joy of growing produce with your own hands and effort, not to mention what you're not spending at the store. How can you not take pride in being frugal, creative, and put something healthy and delicious on the dinner table?
So join me as I take you through my garden, my local markets, my kitchen, as it will be one spicy adventure.
