As the Autumn chill fills the air, with Winter not too far away, the time has come to close up the organic garden, plant bulbs for the coming 2012 Spring season and bring the herbs on in. Had a great growing season this year, ending up with 35 lbs of fresh organic produce, with Tarragon, Marjoram, Oregano and Rosemary still giving and garlic/onions to welcome us in Spring.
And of course, everything was delicious, from the tomatoes and lettuce, to our peas, beans and peppers, potatoes and watermelon, it was all good. Grew the Jolokia chili, which is the world's 3rd hottest pepper. Yum. Those are drying nicely to be made into a powder. I believe in knowing where my food comes from and what's being added to it. And having an organic garden allows me to have control over what I'm consuming. These are the days I long to reside in a warmer year-round climate, to grow my own produce year round.
